The Incubator provides facility support and a structured growth pathway to enable food product companies to develop and grow on Long Island. The businesses and organizations collaborated and networked with 70+ companies that are incubator members.
The Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce meet with Councilman Kornreich at the Train Car Park fence, newly installed by Town of Brookhaven.
The PJS/T Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors review the plans for paving inside the Train Car Park. Parking spaces will be enhanced.
It is hoped the Town Parks Dept. will complete the stage and other improvements by July for this season’s ‘Summer Concert Wednesdays’, which will include a BMX show, and on August 3rd, Shakespeare in the park. We are always working with our local electeds for our members. The Train Car Park provides ample networking and free table opportunities for members. Stay tuned.

Chamber Mission Statement
The Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber’s mission is to be a catalyst for economic growth for our members and the community through advocacy, education and community enhancement.
Full Steam Ahead at One River School of Art + Design
Joan Miro, Spanish abstract artist once said, ‘More important than a work of art itself is what it will sow…a painting can disappear. What counts is the seed.’
Port Jefferson Station has creative spirit, and its name is One River School of Art + Design. 5070 Nesconset Highway is the school’s home, where dedicated staff sew seeds of creativity with a strong helping of career guidance. With access to local working artists, students get their heads and hands engaged in artist talks, workshops and year round classes ops. The school is busy, and their gallery walls revolve around students and professionals four times a year.
The Director of Education, Julia La Marca, is also the One River School of Art + Design representative who participates with the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce. While discussing a painting project at the Chamber’s Train Car Park, Julia explained their mission. “Transforming art education is our objective. We stand behind this mission by connecting students with those actively making a career in art. Students explore contemporary, cultural styles. We encourage their use of color and techniques by surrealists and minimalists. Students across a broad age range explore their abilities here. And it is nice to be able to exhibit their work,“she said.
The opening reception of the Spring Student Exhibition is June 25 at One River School of Art + Design. That exhibit is open weekdays through August from 10 AM to PM. Summer camps start at the end of June with options in painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art and more for kids and teens. There are adult workshops and ‘one off ‘ classes people can try out. These are on-going.
Julia is looking to make artistic improvements to the park benches by the train car. She said, “The Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce cultivates a community environment that allows us to connect with local business partners that help us all thrive.” That’s a brush-stroke of genius, Julia. We are happy to work together. Contact One River School of Art + Design for schedules and offerings for young and old, at 631.743.7001 and their website portjefferson.oneriverschool.com.
Polar Express Success
What a huge success! Our Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce does it again! A series of four business to community events- culminated on Sunday Dec 16, 2018 with the final viewing of ‘The Polar Express’ movie nights, inside our antique chamber train car at the corner of NYS RTE 112 and 347- offered with all the trimmings including ‘I Believe’ jingle bells tied in ribbon like those in the film, – gifted to all children, plus Polar Express Movie poster-backdrop Portraits, as well as those with Santa who surprised children at the close of the film – photos which families access from our pjstchamber.com site. This and more all due to extraordinary organization skills of our chamber Vice President, Larry Ryan, manager of Port Jeff Bowl and support of Chamber directors.

Jenn at the Keep Pride Rally
We are gathered here today to keep PRIDE in Port Jefferson Station. We LOVE our Community! Our community has so many wonderful things to offer and the best local businesses around.
We can not let bad publicity of our local area lower our expectations of where we live, work, shop, and play! We as a community are better than that.
The local business in this area and shopping center are hurting. They need the support of the community! Even though some of you choose to not shop here any longer, these wonderful local businesses still donate their time, money, and goods to our schools, churches and other organizations that we belong to. Think about that!
The small business is the back bone in every community and when an area within is threatening their livelihood, we the community need to say that we will not let that happen. Let our Voices be heard and our Presence be known that this community will be here to support our local businesses, no matter what!

Small Business Development
Local institutional resources include graduate students and faculty, who provide valuable services to the Small Business Development Center. With this advantage, the Center in turn provides assistance in resolving organizational, financial, marketing and technical matters for small businesses as they encounter them. By assisting new and existing business firms, the Small Business Development Center at Stony Brook contributes to the stability and growth of the small business sector and the economy of Long Island.
