It may come as a surprise, but money management is at the heart of a 501c6 nonprofit, such as the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce. Networking events, free concerts at the park, hosting communityevents co nnecting businesses to residents, all require muscle and money. That’s where a treasurer comes in. Relied upon to set and oversee budgets, report to the board, and give the thumbs up for events, the treasurer is the metronome of our organization.
Enter Paula Mauro, our new treasurer, we welcome this member on board. Paula is the Commercial Accounts Manager at SERVPRO of Port Jefferson, located in Coram, with territories in Suffolk and Nassau counties. Paula is a licensed insurance broker in her own right and owner of P. Mauro Insurance Agency. Both companies are members of the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce. Paula has a BBA from Hofstra University and Paralegal Degree from S.C.C.C.
“I look forward to my role on the board. I am encouraged by the enthusiastic and dedicated members of the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce. The comradery and support of outgoing treasurer, Kristin Winter has been invaluable, “said Paula
Paula has a long history of community leadership. She is the current Chair of Women in Business of Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce. In the past she served as Second Vice President of Insurance Professionals of Long Island (IPLI) and was on the board of Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association (PIWA). She has served as Community Ambassador for the American Red Cross. We applaud her connections near and far.
“I know my experience will benefit our hard-working chamber members. Port Jefferson Station is my home; where I live, work and play and I want the best for our community,” she added.
