Seasoned to perfection, served on a toasted, buttered bun with dill pickle chips. The fan favorite complimented with their famous waffle-cut potatoes. Crispy outside and tender inside sprinkled with sea salt. These items satisfied the crowds at the Port Jefferson Station/Terryville Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert shows and attendees at Family Fun Day at the Train Car Park.
This, thanks to the affable Ruth Overzat, PJ Chik-Fil-A Community Liaison and whiz at marketing. They are located on Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station.
I caught up with Ruth at the chamber’s antique Train Car. She was donating Chik-Fil-A cookies as a sponsor for the chamber’s Polar Express fundraiser. Ruth also answered our call for youth volunteers to staff the shows at our Train Car-turned-movie-venue for November and December. Chik-Fil-A hit the ground running when they became a member a few months ago.
“I loved the fact that you made me feel welcome from the first moment this summer in the park. Your approach was, ‘What can we do for you’, said Ruth. “This chamber of commerce is more community related and concerned about businesses.” She added, ‘I told the owner,’This chamber is a good fit for us.’ We agree.
Ruth explained how Chik-Fil-A gives back to the community. They recently raised $1600 for the JTM Foundation’s Paint Port Pink for Breast Cancer Research. They are environmentally minded as well. 99% of their packaging is recyclable cardboard. Their on-site, freshly made lemonade starts with juice from their out of state factory which uses every part of the lemon; the rinds are used as part of a fuel source in their facility.
